This year's theme:
Prevent Kitchen Fires, Watch What You Heat!
The winners and family members gathered to celebrate the 2007 North Greece Fire District Fire Safety Poster Contest at their annual awards luncheon. The 9 winning posters were chosen from over 1000 posters based on the theme “Prevent Kitchen Fires, Watch What You Heat!” Actual drawings / artwork are the work of the student on an 8-1/2 x 11” white sheet of paper drawn horizontally and is judged on initiative, creativity and imagination as well as the theme.

This contest is open yearly to all children in grades 1 through 5 attending an elementary schools within the boundaries of the North Greece Fire District. Home schooled children are also eligible. Posters are judged in three groups with prizes for each of the groups.
Group 1 is from grades 1 & 2, group 2 is from grades 3 & 4, group 3 is from 5th graders with each group having 3 winners.
First Prize - $100 Savings Bond and a $50 Toys R Us gift card.
Second Prize - $50 Savings Bond and a $25 Toys R Us gift card.
Third Prize - $50 Savings Bond.
Winners receive a special award made from a scanned image of their winning poster in a frame. Winners along with honorable mentions are sent to the state level for further competition. Honorable mentions get a special certificates. North Greece has had 5 winners at the state level in the past 5 years. The state level judges over 3,000 posters from winning contests throughout the state.
