FF Bryan Root gives Flag to NGFD

As you know FF/EMT Bryan Root has been serving our Country as a Marine since joining in April of 2005. Bryan has many responsibilities as a Marine and was promoted to Sergeant in 2007 and has served in Fallujah and in Ramadii, Iraq.

Sergeant Root’s responsibilities include managing a unit which maintains all communication and electronic equipment for a Regimental combat team consisting of several Infantry Battalions. Sergeant Root, when state side, is completing a Degree program at Southern Illinois University.

While in Fallujah, Sergeant Root obtained an American Flag and he sent the flag to us at the North Greece Fire Department as a “thanks” for the support that the Department has provided Bryan during his enlistment through cards and packages.

We feel that we owe Bryan the “thanks” for serving not only our residents of North Greece as a volunteer Firefighter, but now serving all of us in his role as a Marine.

The flag is on display at North Greece Fire Station #1, 645 North Greece Rd. where Bryan is assigned as a firefighter. It is proudly shown in our Display case and kept folded as received to preserve the sand that was caught in the flag as it was folded. Make it a point to stop and see it.

We look forward to Bryan’s safe return as well as the safe return of all of the brave men and women who serve us and our Country.
