New Greece Emergency Communications Center at North Greece

When the BOFC weighed the proposal to update our Emergency Communications Center we worked hard to ensure that we were truly meeting the best interests of our Residents. We found ourselves at a crossroads – if we elected to maintain an Emergency communications center we needed to upgrade the electronics as well as the area itself due to age and lack of fit.

If we elected to go forward, our goal was to provide a center that would serve our residents for the next decades. After many meetings with our Chief Officers, our Dispatchers, our Treasurer, our IT coordinator, the Agencies we presently supported, and discussions with other Agencies in our immediate area, the North Greece BOFC collectively decided to make the needed changes.

Many months later, after reviewing countless plans and options with the Architects to ensure that we provided the most cost effective and sustainable plan for the center, we moved forward and started the project in January of 2009. To conserve costs, GVA graciously allowed us to operate in the interim from their HQ’s. Tight quarters for all involved, but one that served to further strengthen the bond between our two Agencies.

To further conserve costs we also applied for and received a Grant for an emergency power generator for the building , this now installed generator will provide all of the electrical needs for the complex in the event of loss of power.
The goal for our Center is superior technology with costs shared across multiple Agencies, seasoned dispatchers with a firm understanding of the Firefighting and EMS business, and a genuine concern on the part of all to best serve our citizens and neighbors. With this cooperation, we can meet and exceed best practices for serving our Community where costs would be prohibitive individually.
Through their dedication, compassion, understanding and skill, our Dispatcher’s make sure that our residents and the residents of the neighboring Districts and Ambulance Company that we serve get the help that they need, when they need it.

In the event of a Town wide emergency we are prepared to be the Town’s emergency communication center for all emergency Agency and government personnel - Local, County, State, and Federal.
