The Officers:
Three of the four chiefs are volunteer. They are elected by the membership of the fire department. The chief may only serve for three consecutive years. There are three volunteer captains and three volunteer lieutenants that are assigned to fire station assignments. District fire officers include: one career assistant chief, who acts as the chief’s administrative assistant and municipal training officer (MTO); two career captains who oversee apparatus, apparatus maintenance and fire prevention, and five career lieutenants who oversee training, EMS quality control and more. These career officers assist the career assistant chief as needed and supervise the district’s quick response squad and career firefighters.
